Brussels, 17 April 2025 – The Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) proudly announces a powerhouse lineup of COP30 partners for 2025. This greatly strengthens the push to accelerate renewable energy deployment and achieve the global goal of tripling renewables by 2030.

Companies continuing their partnership include key global players committed to driving renewable energy expansion: Adani Green Energy, EDP, CIP, Fortescue, Google, Iberdrola, Octopus Energy Generation, Ørsted, SSE, Topsoe and Vestas and have now been joined by Arup and SUNOTEC.

By joining forces with GRA, these companies will contribute to advancing policies, sharing cutting-edge industry insights, and mobilising solutions for a clean, secure, and just energy transition. Representing manufacturers, energy buyers, developers, utilities and investors, they bring the collective expertise and influence needed to scale up renewables at the pace required. Tripling renewables makes achieving a real zero outcome possible by eliminating the need for other energy sources.

“Our COP30 coalition partners are not just supporting GRA’s mission—they are amplifying the private sector’s voice, investing in renewable energy and driving real change in the energy transition,” said Bruce Douglas, CEO of the Global Renewables Alliance. “By uniting these world-leading suppliers, buyers, advisors and investors, we can accelerate policy action and unlock the full potential of renewable energy worldwide.”

As part of their engagement with GRA, the coalition partners will actively participate in major global events, including the Global Renewables Summit in New York (September) COP30 in Brazil (June), the inaugural Lisbon Future Dialogue, and the Corporate Sourcing Summit in South Korea (August). They will also contribute to the upcoming re-launch of GRA’s Time 4 Action policy toolkit and provide real-world success stories. These will showcase how tripling renewables by 2030 is not just achievable, it is already delivering huge socio-economic, security and climate benefits.

Gonzalo Sáenz de Miera, Director of Climate Change and Alliances at Iberdrola, said: “Renewables contribute to energy security and enhance economic competitiveness. At Iberdrola, we’ve long understood this—having invested in clean energy for over 20 years, we now operate more than 44,000 MW of renewable energy capacity worldwide. Through our partnership with the Global Renewables Alliance, we’re joining forces with other leaders to accelerate the global energy transition and deliver tangible benefits for people and businesses.”

Fortescue Metals Chief Executive Officer, Dino Otranto said: “Decarbonising mining isn’t a far-off vision. It’s both possible and profitable, and Fortescue’s partnership with the Global Renewables Alliance underscores our commitment to making it a reality. We can either remain tethered to traditional methods that rely on burning fossil fuels, or we can step forward as leaders in innovation and climate action.”

“Decarbonising isn’t just good for the planet – it’s good for the bottom line. By switching to renewables, we can significantly reduce operational costs – a win-win situation of climate action driving profitability.”

Roeland Baan, CEO of Topsoe, said: “To shape a secure and resilient energy mix, we need urgent and decisive action to add more renewable energy to the system. This is essential, not only to the direct electrification of many more activities and sectors, but also to the diversification of fuels for the energy-intensive industries and long-distance transportation. That’s why we, as a leading global provider of advanced technologies for the energy transition, strongly support the Global Renewable Alliance and the push for a faster buildout of renewable energy supply.”

Alexander Zahariev, Chief Strategy Officer, SUNOTEC Group: “At SUNOTEC, we believe that real progress comes from bold collaboration and shared purpose. Joining the Global Renewables Alliance is a natural step in our mission to build the energy infrastructure of tomorrow—faster, smarter, and more sustainably. Together with our partners, we are committed to accelerating the global shift to renewables and proving that tripling capacity by 2030 is not just a target—it’s a responsibility we all share.”

Alan Thomson, Global Energy Business Leader, Arup, said: “At Arup, our focus is on accelerating and scaling the deployment of renewable energy through close collaboration and partnership so that we can collectively deliver a secure and competitive energy future. Throughout the project lifecycle our expert teams advise, engineer and deliver impactful outcomes. By partnering with the Global Renewables Alliance, we will be collaborating with industry leading peers to integrate and scale sustainable solutions worldwide.”

Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade, CEO of EDP, said: “At EDP, we highly value our partnership with the Global Renewables Alliance as we work together to advance the global energy transition. Our shared goal is to triple renewable energy capacity and double energy efficiency by 2030, which is a strong indicator of the direction in which the future is headed. Through our support and collaboration, we aim to demonstrate the business case for renewable energy and highlight the essential role of industry leadership in developing a competitive and resilient energy system. Alongside the Global Renewables Alliance, we advocate for coherent and stable policy frameworks, strategic investments, and skills development —crucial drivers of a just and inclusive energy transition.”

Morten Dyrholm, Group Senior Vice President for Marketing, Communications, and Public Affairs, Vestas: “Vestas supports the Global Renewables Alliance to highlight how wind energy can build energy independence and drive economic growth worldwide. Tripling the installation of renewables by 2030 is a critical step towards achieving a global energy system that is secure, affordable and sustainable. To get there, we need to translate ambition into action, and Vestas is ready to support this journey.”

Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy, said: “Adani’s bold initiative to rapidly decarbonize the grid reflects our commitment to a low-carbon energy transition. This effort is driven by a $100 billion investment plan dedicated to advancing energy transition projects and manufacturing capabilities to produce every major component required for green energy generation.”

“With our vision to deliver 50 GW of clean power by 2030, we already have 14 GW operational, lighting up lives across the nation. At Khavda, we are developing the world’s largest renewable energy plant, covering an area five times the size of Paris, with a generation capacity of 30 GW. Of this, approximately 4 GW of solar and wind energy is already operational. Khavda – A once desolate region is transforming into a hub for clean power and green jobs, becoming an emblem of India’s sustainable progress.”

“We firmly believe the time for action is now. In collaboration with the Global Renewable Alliance (GRA), we are committed to accelerating the global adoption of renewable energy for a sustainable future.”

Alistair Phillips-Davies, CEO of SSE: “SSE is committed to accelerating the clean energy transition and there has never been a more urgent need for leadership and international collaboration on this vital agenda. By joining forces with other industry leaders through the Global Renewables Alliance, we aim to help drive forward not only the trebling up of renewables globally but also the delivery of the grid, storage and flexibility infrastructure that will be needed to enable and optimise the clean power system of the future.”

Michael Hannibal, Partner in Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, said: “CIP is excited to continue our partnership with the Global Renewables Alliance—because renewables are the fastest path to energy security, affordability, and job creation. Together, we’ll continue to be a strong global voice driving the transition forward.”

Ulrik Stridbæk, Vice President of Ørsted, said: “At Ørsted, our track record speaks volumes about our commitment to creating a world powered by green energy. With years of experience in pioneering renewable energy solutions, we have consistently demonstrated the power of sustainable energy in driving economic growth and enhancing energy security. Our partnership with the Global Renewables Alliance and peers across the value chain helps us drive the energy sector’s evolution, promoting an affordable, secure, and sustainable energy future.”

This announcement marks a significant step forward in GRA’s mission to drive global action and investment in renewables, energy storage and grids. With increasing alignment among governments, businesses, and investors on the urgency of the clean energy transition, these partnerships will be instrumental in shaping a future powered by renewables.
